AVAILABILITY CALENDAR   REQUEST A RESERVATION

The Jennie Forbes Cottage is a Regency style cottage built in 1857, it has been restored and recently updated to better serve my guests. Each of the four rooms has an ensuite bath, with rooms on the first floor, and a short staircase to the second floor. The rooms have Tw/Kings, Queen, and Triple bedroom configurations. The home is located in the Historic City Center.

ROOMS & AMENITIES

The two first floor rooms are 1) TWIN/KING; the SCOTTSMAN, with double armoire, shower ensuite bath, comfortable seating with Scottish decor, room fan, plus central air.
2) Our QUEEN room has a aged pine patina four poster bed with upholstered rocking chair seating, a shower in the bath, royalty and women of note themed library. Regency plaques from England surround the room, and a tapastry from Brussels with a queen with her ladies in waiting decorate the walls.
Second level rooms:
3) The French Twin/Queen has a Parisian themed library and photos of France/Paris hung in bedroom and bath. A whirlpool tub with shower, the Queen bed is a "Sleep Number" adjustible bed, so each side can be to the exact firmness desired. This room also has a twin bed and makeup/writing
desk. Special remote controlled air conditioning unit and room fan. 4) The Tuscany suite is in the second floor loft with a TWIN/KING bed plus an additonal twin bed
and a large sitting area. Ensuite bath with a shower and a separate claw foot tub. The room has a
small refrigerator and an Italian themed library, hairdryer, ceiling fan and special remote controlled air conditioner and a ceiling fan.

Guests have 24/7 use of the coffee/tea making machine in the dining room. Late afternoon tea
treats and after theatre snacks are offered to guests on the dining room server each day.
Newspapers and sundries can be found around the corner at Shoppers Drug Mart which is open early
and has late night hours. Many restaurants and shops are located within a two block walk, parking
available (B&B is licensed for one vehicle per room) on site.

The cottage is surrounded by a traditional country garden that always has something flowering; and has a porch with wicker rockers for the guests use. A gas fireplace with old stove to warm guests after a late night or early rise is located in the central parlour with nearly a thirteen foot ceiling. The in-house library has collections on such topics as gardening, American and Canadian history, cooking, self-healing and Asian arts, religion, politics, biographies, best selling thriller/spy stories, poetry, theatre and film, and top Canadian authors. A selection of magazines, cards, and games are on hand for guests to enjoy. The dining room has a Queen Anne stlye hutch and credenza server with a large light pine table that has turned posts and carved feet. The common rooms have been recently redecorated and are painted in a historic color palate. There are no pets in house nor do we accept pets. There is an iron/ironing board and hair dryers for our guests to use. Guests may bring wine. We have openers, glasses etc in dining room for guest use. Sitting areas, alarm clock radios, fans, extra bed pillows are in each room. We always provide high quality all cotton sheets, bedding, and towels. A special selection of natural toiletries are provided for each guest bath from Body Works. Guests may bring a portable DVD player or use a laptop;we have a variety of DVD's to select from and WIFI is available throughout the cottage. A Bose Sound System is usually playing in the background, especially during breakfast. Some rooms have cable TV.

BREAKFAST

Extended Continental. Or served generous breakfast with an emphasis on healthy but tasty, often buffet style, usually with one hot item or main dish chosen by the cook. Typically we serve: Eggs Benedict, Buttermilk waffles with poached fruit, Herbed Havarti Scambled Eggs, Canadian Style "English Breakfast", heritage tomato tarlet, . In addition;coffee cakes, muffins and artisian breads/toasted. Variety of fruit, "Jennie Special Granola", juices, dark roast coffee/decaf, herbal tea, or brewed tea. Every effort is made to use fresh ingredients; usually organic and we only use "no-cholesterol butter"
in our cooking and olive oil. We use Free Range fresh eggs from local farms.

RATES

The Jennie Forbes specializes in extended stays of 3 plus nights with a special rate of $169 plus HST of 13%. Other rate arrangements are possible depending on the time of year, number of rooms booked and number of guests.
We can arrange a special tea, chocolate tasting party, suggest spa days, Scotch tasting night. All arrangements must be made in advance of your stay.

POLICIES

Check-in is 3-6pm other times by arrangement only, please advise hosts as to your arrival time. Check-out is by 10:45am. PLEASE BE ADVISED....The Cancellation policy is 21 days in advance of your reservation with refund less $25.00 fee, if the room is rebooked. This means that on the 22 day before your stay you may cancel with 100% refund, on the 21st day and onward the total cost for each room night that was booked will be charged, unless it is re-booked for any of the nights less a 4% booking fee of the total cost booked; which is the cost the cc company would
charge us. All room reservations require one night deposit, plus HST. Four or more nights require a
two night deposit.
